Q. How many hours could I work in a week?
A. Part-time faculty members teach two to six hours per week.
Q. What is the timeframe I need to be available?
A. Courses are taught between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. If you are available to teach only in the evening, you may still be considered.
Q. What is the rate of pay?
A. Rate of pay is based on an individual’s relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant postsecondary education. If hired, you will be asked to complete a faculty evaluation form which payroll staff will use to determine your rate of pay based on a prescribed formula.
Q. Am I required to complete any regulatory training to work at Georgian?
A. Yes, all Georgian employees are required to complete the following training modules as part of their employment contract: Health and Safety, AODA Customer Service Training and AODA Accessibility Awareness for Educators as per the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005. However, if you have completed any of this training at your last place of work, you can submit your certificates for review and approval.
Q. How many students are typically in one class?
A. Class sizes vary based on the subject/discipline, depending on whether it takes place in a lab or classroom, but it can range from 24 to 60.

Q. What type of technology do you have in the classroom?
A. Our classrooms are equipped with standard multimedia (projectors, screens, podiums, etc.). There are also labs with program-specific technology. No matter the technology, Georgian has the supports in place to help you learn along the way.
Q. Is curriculum content already developed? Would I be responsible for creating my own content?
A. Curriculum content has already been developed for you. The method in which you deliver the content and course evaluation is your responsibility and will thus reflect your individual expertise and teaching style.
Q. How long do courses generally run?
A. Courses typically run in 14-week semesters (with a week-long break in each semester). There are three semesters in the academic year. However, individual teaching contracts are based on one semester at a time.
Q. Who do I report to?
A. Depending on the area, you would report to the Associate Dean or Dean.
Q. What is the selection process?
A. The process may vary slightly by academic area, however, all will include a personal interview.
Q. Will I have space to work from at the college?
A. Yes, shared office space is available and you will have access to a college computer.
Q. Will I be evaluated during or after teaching the course?
A. Yes, you will be evaluated at the end of each semester you teach.
