This course is designed to develop the ability and understanding of the student to recognize conflict situations and respond with competence and confidence as it relates to emergency communications. Conflict situations will be examined from inception through to intervention by various resource agencies. Problem solving skills and non-violent intervention techniques will be discussed along with intervention strategies directed toward specific incidents. The student will be taught to recognize behaviour patterns that may lead to violent behaviour and the appropriate responses to these behaviours.

Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program at the point of registration. Declaring a program does not necessarily mean students must complete a program, individual courses may be taken for skill improvement and upgrading.
