2.3 Learning Skills
Student success in college depends as much on well-developed learning skills and attitudes as on prior academic achievement. While achievement is of major importance in program admissions, other skills – such as being able to work independently, participate in a team, be well organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative – are those that result in greatest success in college. By contrast, students lacking these skills are less likely to become well integrated into college programs and are more likely to leave without completion. Applicants should therefore develop these skills and attitudes before beginning their college programs.
