Barrie, ONT. – The Algoma Thunderbirds defeated the Georgian Grizzlies 81-54 in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) men’s basketball exhibition action.
The Grizzlies held a slim one-point advantage after the first quarter, but Algoma held Georgian to six points in the second frame to take a 41-28 at the half. Algoma put the game away with a 13-0 run to start the final quarter.
Jovain Wilson led Algoma with 21 points. For the Grizzlies, Mark Brown scored 13 points and Shane Rowe added 11.
Georgian will participate in the St. Lawrence Invitational next weekend in Kingston.
