BARRIE, Ont. – Bill Shaw scored four tries as the Algonquin Thunder defeated the Georgian Grizzlies 42-10 in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s rugby action this afternoon at the Barrie Community Sports Complex.
Shaw opened up the scoring 10 minutes into the contest as the Thunder scored four tries to open up a 22-0 lead. The Grizzlies responded just before half-time when Austin Hunt touched the ball down after a great run from Steve Sasseville.
A try by Georgian’s Travis MacIver early in the second half closed the deficit to 22-10, but Shaw responded with two tries to put an end to a Grizzly comeback.
Jordan Baskerville, Robert Ford, Max Schafer and Raymond Way-Alessi scored the other tries for Algonquin.
Georgian will hit the road for their next game against the Fleming Auks in Lindsay on Wednesday, October 5th.
