Georgian Drops Two

Barrie, ON – The Georgian Grizzlies women’s basketball team lost a tight 40-37 contest to the Cambrian Golden Shield in exhibition action on Friday evening.

The Golden Shield led 24-15 at the half, but the Grizzlies closed the gap to five points heading into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, Georgian cut the lead to one, 31-30, but Cambrian responded and kept the Grizzlies at bay for the remainder of the contest.

Nicky Prevost had 14 to lead Cambrian, while Megan Robertson had 9 for the Grizzlies.

On Wednesday evening in Toronto, the Grizzlies lost 51-40 to the undefeated George Brown Huskies. Georgian led 32-31 heading into the fourth quarter, but were outscored 19-9 in the final frame.

Robertson had 14 points and Danielle Horvat had 8 points and 11 rebounds.

Georgian stands 2-3 in league play and will take on the Algonquin Thunder in Ottawa next Saturday.
