Barrie, ON – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team swept the La Cite Coyotes 3-0 (25-22, 27-25, 25-17) in the final game of their weekend home stand on Sunday afternoon.
Mike Hammond and Josh Deppisch led the Grizzlies with 15 points each, while setter Chris Graham had a solid all-round game that included 4 aces.
Against the nationally ranked Algonquin Thunder on Saturday, the Grizzlies fell in straight sets, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-18). Georgian battled hard in the first set, but the Thunder dominated play in the second and third to earn the sweep.
Former Grizzly Mike Adams led the Thunder with 14 points, while Hammond was top gun for Georgian with 12 kills and 2 blocks.
The Grizzlies are now 6-3 and play at George Brown on Sunday, December 4th in their final league game before the break.
