Barrie, ON – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team knocked off the undefeated Loyalist Lancers in straight sets, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-22), in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) league play this afternoon.
The Grizzlies and Lancers played each other tight in all three sets, but Georgian’s Mike Hammond and Josh Deppisch
were able to close out each set with key plays. Deppisch finished with a game-high 11 kills, while Hammond had 8 kills to go along with 4 aces.
The impressive win comes off a disappointing effort in a 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16) loss on Wednesday night to the Seneca Sting in North York. Hammond led all Grizzlies with 9 kills.
The Grizzlies are now 5-2 in the OCAA East and will host the Algonquin Thunder (6-0) and the La Cite Coyotes (5-1) next weekend.
