CORNWALL, Ont. – The Georgian Grizzlies men’s and women’s golf teams found a silver lining at the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championships hosted by St. Lawrence College at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club.
The women finished the 54-hole competition in 2nd place to take home the silver medal in the team competition. Georgian’s Jasmine Paton added another individual bronze medal to her collection, finishing in 3rd place for a second straight year with a three-day total of 262. Her teammate Nicole Belcourt ended up in 5th place with a combined score of 268.
Not to be outdone, the men also won a silver medal, shooting a team total 309 on the final day to move past Durham College and take home second place.
Eric Adamo finished in 6th place after shooting a 75 on the final day in windy conditions, while teammate Paul Ngimat fired a 77 to end up in a three-way tie for 11th spot. Keegan Tyers finished one stroke behind Ngimat with a three-day total of 228 in a tie for 13th. Rookie Frank Giacomelli was all alone in 18th position and Nolan Knill completed the tournament in a three-way tie for 19th.
Both teams have qualified to participate in the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association championships to be held at the Brudenell River Golf Course in Prince Edward Island from October 18 – 21.
