Grizzlies Face Top Competition

Quebec, QC – The Georgian Grizzlies competed in the prestigious Coupe de l’Est men’s volleyball tournament hosted by Limoilou on the weekend and finished with a 1-4 record.

Georgian opened up pool play with a straight set win over the St. Thomas Tommies 3-0 (25-14, 16-25, 23-25), before dropping matches to Outaouais 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 23-25), Montmorency 3-0 (20-25, 16-25, 18-25) and Humber 3-0 (21-25, 17-25, 19-25).

In their consolation round match the Grizzlies lost a tough five-set match to the UNB Reds U21 team 3-2 (25-23, 25-27, 25-15, 23-25, 9-15).

Georgian opens up the second semester of league play at home against the 9-1 Seneca Sting on Wednesday night at 8:00 p.m. The Grizzlies finished the first semester with a 7-3 record.
