Grizzlies Get Off to Solid Start

CORNWALL, Ont. – The Georgian College men’s golf team sits in 3rd place after day one of the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) championship tournament, which runs through Wednesday at the Cornwall Golf and Country Club.The Grizzlies finished the day with a team total of 302, one stroke behind 2nd place Durham College. The Humber Hawks, five-time defending champions, lead with a 283 total.

Nolan Knill fired a 74 and is currently in a four-way tie for 5th place, while Keegan Tyers’ 75 puts him in 9th place. Rookie Frank Giacomelli had a solid debut, shooting 76 and is tied for 15th. Paul Ngimat and Eric Adamo both finished with 77 and sit tied for 22nd.

The women find themselves in 2nd place in the team competition, five-strokes behind the Durham Lords. Georgian finished with a total of 169 after rookie Nicole Belcourt shot an 83 and Jasmine Paton finished with an 86.

Belcourt finds herself in 2nd overall, while Paton is currently in 4th spot.
