Grizzlies Shine at Fleming Invitational

Peterborough, ONT. – In the final race before the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Cross Country Championships, the Georgian Grizzlies had their best showing of the season.

Tina Drinkwalter and Carolyn Schaerer finished in the top 10 to lead their team to a 2nd place finish. Drinkwalter’s time of 22:30 on the rain soaked 5 km course was good for a 5th place finish, while Schaerer ended up in 8th place with a time of 23:36. Jessica Shaw finished in 18th position after her best run of the season.

The men’s team just missed out on the podium, ending up in 4th place over-all. Brandon Whetham was Georgian’s top runner, claiming 11th place, with an 8 km time of 30:51. Jay Harris and Shawn Davidson finished in 22nd and 25th positions respectively.

The Grizzlies will take part in the OCAA Championships on October 29th in Kingston, hosted by St. Lawrence College.
