Toronto, ON – A member of the Georgian Grizzlies men’s volleyball team was named the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association men’s volleyball player of the week for the period ending November 6th.
Fifth-year middle Mike Hammond (Barrie, Ont.) led Georgian to a 2-1 record to begin the 2011-12 regular season. Hammond had a team-high 13 points, including a dozen kills, in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 26-24) loss at Durham on Nov. 1. He added 21 points on 17 kills, two serving aces and two stuff blocks in a 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) win against Cambrian on Nov. 5, then another 23 points on 17 kills, four stuff blocks and two serving aces in a 3-1 (20-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-22) win over Boreal on Nov. 6.
