Barrie, ONT. – The young Georgian Grizzlies women’s basketball team played host this past weekend to seven teams from across Ontario and Quebec at the 15th annual Fall Classic.

Unfortunately for the Grizzlies, they were perfect hosts, dropping all three of their games.

The Grizzlies lost their opening game 68-46 against the Algoma Thunderbirds on Friday night. The Grizzlies trailed 21-18 at the half, but were outscored 30-15 in the third quarter. Meagan Robertson led Georgian with 20 points and Danielle Horvat added 12.

Saturday, against John Abbott College from Montreal, the short-handed Grizzlies never recovered from a poor start and lost 75-44. Horvat was the top scorer with 13 points, while Kara Faulkner chipped in with 10.

In their tournament finale, the Grizzlies enjoyed their best offensive output of the weekend scoring 62 points, in an 83-62 loss to Nouvelles Frontieres from Gatineau. Robertson had another solid outing with 19 points, while Danielle Horvat and Kara Faulkner scored 10 points apiece.

The Niagara Knights took home the title, defeating the Algoma Thunderbirds 72-52 in the championship game.
