Barrie, ON – After a heartbreaking loss to the Algonquin Thunder on Saturday, the Georgian Grizzlies women’s volleyball team bounced back with a straight set win over the La Cite Coyotes on Sunday afternoon. Set scores were 25-20, 25-16, 25-21.
The victory was a total team effort as 10 different players recorded kills in the match. Hannah Campbell led the Grizzlies with 6 kills, while Tyrra Grozelle and Bailee Yasher added 5 apiece. MacKenzie Roy had an excellent game setting and recorded 4 service aces. Erin McClean, making her first start since returning from injury, picked up 4 kills and 3 aces.
In Saturday’s five-set loss to Algonquin, Campbell and Yasher led Georgian with 12 points. Grozelle and Veronica Harrison kept several rallies alive, but in the end, the Thunder prevailed 17-15 in the deciding set.
Georgian’s record stands at 5-4 with one game remaining this semester, next Sunday at George Brown.
