Purchasing a computer can be an intimidating experience. The staff at Bits & Bytes are Georgian College employees, not commissioned salespeople. Their mandate is to serve the students of Georgian; their responsibility is to help you make an informed computer choice with an emphasis on “service and value.”
As an educational reseller, they can offer you academic pricing on software from major manufacturers. Bits & Bytes sells a variety of computer systems and laptops, including models Fujitsu, Apple and Touch Systems. The staff is here to help and they believe a computer purchase is an investment in your education.
Academic Software
Georgian College students are eligible for academically priced software (valid Georgian College student card required at the time of purchase). You can save anywhere from 10% to 90% off selected titles from such major software companies as: Adobe, Apple, AutoDesk, Microsoft and Quark. Click here to visit our software page.
Hardware
Bits & Bytes carries a variety of printers, scanners, brand name laptops and networking products. We have pre-built Windows based computer systems or can custom configure a machine to meet your specific needs. Looking for an Apple laptop or desktop? Consumables & Accessories
Bits & Bytes carries a large selection of inks, photo paper, headsets, cables, keyboards, mice and graphics tablets. We also carry a variety of storage media such as blank CDs, DVDs, mini-DVDs, external hard drives, SD Memory Cards, MicroSD Memory Cards and USB flash drives.
Adaptive Technologies
Bits & Bytes works closely with the Centre for Access at Georgian College, providing students with adaptive technologies software and hardware designed to facilitate and enhance the learning experience. We carry or can special order such products as: Dragon Naturally Speaking, Kurzweil 3000, Inspiration, Reference Point, Jaws, Textaloud, Franklin Language Master handheld units and KNFB Readers. We also carry desktop and laptop systems that are tested to work with all of this unique software and, for a fee, can pre-install all of your software so that everything is ready to go when you get your computer home.
Upgrades and Repairs
Looking to upgrade your computer? Have viruses and spy ware taken over your computer? Bits & Bytes has a full service and repair facility. Located on the Barrie campus, we can usually have your computer ready for pickup within one business day. The service centre operates on a first come, first served basis.
