When are fees due?

Full payment of course fees must be made at the time of registration, whether by mail, fax, phone, company billing or in person. When GST is applicable, it has been included in the course fee.

What services are available while I’m taking a Continuing Education course?

Bookstore, library, cafeteria, academic counseling, services for students with learning and other disabilities, career services, and other services for students are available at our main campuses. Contact the specific service for a complete description of services offered and hours of operation.

What is Banner and how do I access it?

Banner is the name of the student information system. Banner self service features include web admissions and registration processes, online timetables, online transcripts, online account information including tax receipts and much more. An online payment feature is also available.

Your Login ID is your 9 digit student number. Original Default Pin is your birth date in YYMMDD format. Don’t have a student number? Contact the Office of the Registrar (705) 722-1511, registrar@georgianc.on.ca .

What is a prerequisite?

A prerequisite is a course (or other qualification) required as preparation for entry to another course. It is your responsibility to ensure that all prerequisite requirements are met before registering for a course.

What are the rules about admission requirements, withdrawal from courses, exemptions, refunds, etc.?

Check the Admissions/Registration Policies for Continuing Education. Still have questions? Contact your local campus registration staff for clarification.

What are applicable majors?

An applicable major indicates that a course can be used to meet the graduation requirements for that specific major. Students registering for credit courses for the first time must declare a program (or major) at the point of registration. Students registering for non-credit courses are not required to declare a program (or major) unless working towards a Georgian College credential.

Is there any financial aid available for Continuing Education students?

There is the Ontario Special Bursary and the Part-time Canada Student Loan that Continuing Education students may be eligible to apply for. Please contact your campus financial aid office for details.

Is the cost of textbooks included in the course fee?

Textbooks are not included in the course fee unless indicated. Not all courses have required texts.

How do I find the room location for my course?

When you register, you will be informed of the course reference number (CRN) – a five-digit number. Approximately a week prior to the start of your class, return to the Continuing Education search page and search your specific CRN. Check the detailed information for the room location.

How do I find out if my instructor cannot make the class?

If your instructor is unable to attend, we will attempt to notify you by use of telephone numbers recorded by our registration staff. A message will be left if you have voice mail. Please ensure your telephone number is current with our registration office.

How do I find out about course cancellations?

Listen to the local community radio stations for a public announcement. The college web site also announces campus closures.

How can I register for a Continuing Education course?

There are six ways to register – You may register online, by fax, by phone, in person, by mail or by company billing. For more information on registering, click here.

How can I get help logging into the computers and network?

Go to the Library Commons at Barrie, Orillia or Owen Sound. Staff will be able to assist you with basic username and password questions.

How can I access my account, course registrations, final grade and tax receipts online?

This information is available online in Banner. Read this document for more detailed instructions.

Do I have to pay for parking at the college?

At Barrie, Orillia, and Owen Sound, paid parking is in effect 24 hours a day and seven days a week. You pay for parking when you exit the campus. Current rates are $4.00 before 7:00 p.m. and $2.00 after 7:00 p.m. Correct change is required or you may wish to enquire about a parking pass.
