Applicants must have successfully completed a diploma or degree in nursing from an accredited nursing education program. Applicants must also hold current registration with the nursing regulatory body in their home province/state and or country.  See Critical Care Nursing Program Outline for further admission and selection details.

NOTE: For Critical Care Nursing Clinical (RNRS 1054), students must have the below items completed and submitted in person to the Manager, Part-time Studies and Workforce Development for Health, Wellness and Sciences prior to the first day of placement.
1. Up-to-date immunization records (Clinical Preparedness Permit) in compliance with the Public Hospitals Act.

Clinical Preparedness Permit for Critical Care Nursing Clinical-RNRS 1054

2. Valid Level HCP CPR and Standard First Aid (on-line courses are not acceptable).

3. Record of mask fit test, renewed every two years.

4. Up-to-date clear criminal reference check and vulnerable sector. Students should obtain their criminal reference three months prior to placement; checks conducted earlier may not be considered current. As some jurisdictions require longer lead-time for processing, please check with the Manager, Part-time Studies and Workforce Development to ensure you allow for sufficient turn-around time.

It is the student’s responsibility to provide the completed document in person to the Manager prior to placement start. Please contact the Manager for a letter to assist you in obtaining a criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screen.

NOTE: Individuals who have been charged or convicted criminally and not pardoned will be prohibited from proceeding to a clinical placement.
