GEAR (Georgian Students for Environmental Awareness and Research) is a group of volunteers working throughout Georgian College and Barrie to raise awareness about environmental issues and goals while promoting sustainability within the campus and community. GEAR is extremely active, especially at the Barrie Campus.

Activities include:

• free Fair Trade Coffee Mondays for students and staff who show up with reuseable travel mugs,
• “recycle bike” program which will provide rental bikes for students
