Why support the Centre for Health and Wellness?
Name a room in the Centre for Health and Wellness
Where the next generation of health care professionals will begin their careers
Thanks to the generous support of community philanthropists, businesses, industry partners, service clubs, municipal and regional governments and Georgian students, alumni and staff, we have raised $14.5 million for the exciting new Sadlon Centre for Health and Wellness, located at the Barrie Campus. The centre opened on Aug. 31, 2011. This project, at 172,000-square-feet, is the largest expansion in Georgian’s history.
There are several naming opportunities available should you still wish to support this important facility that is home to the region’s future health care providers. For more information on how you, your business or association can be a part of this exciting project, contact the Office of Development & Alumni Relations at 705-728-1968, ext. 1210 or email closier@georgianc.on.ca.
What is the Sadlon Centre for Health and Wellness?
The modern facility includes six community-accessible teaching health clinics, technology-enhanced classrooms and university-calibre laboratores. It is the hub for health and wellness education in our region.
A donation to this project will help students, the next generation of health care providers, have the best, most comprehensive educational experience. The Central Ontario region will benefit from an increase in health care providers from the graduates of the School of Health and Wellness. When local people need health care, there’s a good chance one of the professionals who helps them will have received their education at Georgian College. With a health care skills shortage occurring and predicted to worsen, Georgian is working diligently to become the key solution to this challenge.
The new facility houses all of Georgian’s health and wellness programs under one roof, and offers the public and students an opportunity for greater access to health care in new student-run teaching clinics. Students can pursue health care careers through certificates, diplomas and a growing list of degree programs through Georgian’s University Partnership Centre.
As well, the new facility enables Georgian to facilitate interdisciplinary teaching methods, which means students from various health and wellness programs will study and work together for the benefit of patients. It’s the future of health care, and it’s how health care is taught at Georgian.
Thank you for your interest in Georgian and this exciting new addition.
