I don’t want to attend the ceremony. Do I still need to submit a form?
Yes. In order to update our records and produce your credential (diploma, certificate, or degree, etc.), we need to review your graduation requirements. Submitting the request to graduate form will allow us to do that.
What happens if I don’t submit the form?
- You will not receive your credential
- Your transcript will not show that you graduated
- When employers verify your education, our records will show that you didn’t graduate
- You will not be recognized as an Alumnus
What happens if I submit the form late?
You cannot attend the upcoming convocation ceremony. If you do not want to attend, we will review your graduation requirements after convocation. You will experience a delay in having your student record updated and receiving your credential. If you would still like to attend a ceremony, you may attend the next convocation ceremony.
When will I get my credential (certificate, diploma, or degree, etc.)?
If you are attending convocation, you will receive your credential at the ceremony. If you missed the convocation ceremony or if you choose to have it mailed, it will be sent out in the weeks following the convocation ceremonies. If you are picking it up, we will call you when it is available. Credentials are not released before convocation.
How will I know when I’ve been declared a graduate?
You will receive a letter in the mail indicating your graduate status. If you stated you would attend the ceremony on your form, you will receive guest tickets along with your letter. Please make sure your address is up to date with the Office of the Registrar.
What if I owe fees?
You can still attend the convocation ceremony, but we will not release your credential or transcripts until you have paid all outstanding fees. After your balance has been paid, you will need to contact the Office of the Registrar to get your credential.
