Co-op Success Story
As an international student at Georgian College, I must say that the process of finding a suitable co-op that would implement what I learned in school and supply me with many new and beneficial information was not hard at all with all the help I got from the Georgian staff.
First there was the co-op class that introduced me and the rest of the students to absolutely every thing we need to know about the working term. Then there was the co-op website that includes all the information we learn in class and lots of supplemental materials. And there is also the “experience.com” website that helps in searching and applying for jobs all over Canada.
One of the great things about Georgia College is the success centre where every student can be helped in developing his/her resume and cover letter which is a requirement for applying to any job.
Now, and after working for about two months at ClubLink Corporation I must say that things are going just great I’ve learned many new information about accounting “the field I’m interested in” as well as implemented what I learned in class. Every one of my days involves learning and interacting with new people and it adds to my knowledge substantially in many fields not only accounting. One other great things is when I face a problem and seek the solution, this process is just amazing because of the amount of information I learn throughout it.
This co-op has really expand my knowledge about the accounting industry, after learning the materials in class I didn’t quite understand how every thing works, but then, after starting my co-op I started understanding why are things happening the way they are and knowing how to fix any problems that I may encounter.
Another great aspect about the co-op work term is that I meet new people and interact with them, and as an international student this is really great because Canada was a new country to me and I didn’t know any one here, but now I know many people all over the place which is significant in helping me build string connections all over the country.
At the end, I would like to say that I am grateful for Georgian College and the opportunities that it gave me to expand my knowledge, meet new people, and more importantly build my future.
