The Information Technology Department at Georgian College provides the following services:

Student Support:

Faculty and Staff:

  • Create Banner baseline accounts – pass on for security assignment to Banner support staff
  • Change faculty and staff passwords and PINs for Banner web and baseline
  • Create new user accounts for network access
  • Change passwords for network access, e-mail and Blackboard for faculty and staff
  • Give proxy to established role e-mail accounts
  • Give access to shared drives – membership to network groups
  • Reset disk space restrictions for network drive
  • Setup temporary accounts for special events
  • Suspend/delete network access
  • Handle all incoming e-mail requests
  • Troubleshoot computer software/hardware problems over the phone
  • Capture/install printers with users over the phone
  • Re-direct calls as appropriate from generic inquiries
  • Direct user to install software from I:\ and/or NALs
  • Create work-order tickets for computer problems to be assigned to 2nd line support or other sections of the IT department, including cable pulls for IT/Physical Resources

2nd Line Support (in person):

  • Troubleshoot software and hardware computer problems for students, faculty and staff for Georgian College computers
  • Warranty hardware replacements for all computers
  • Setup and configure new computers for students, faculty and staff.
  • Install new software
  • Install and configure new network printers

Computer Administration:

  • Create academic and administrative images for all computers at Georgian College
  • License administration for all software purchased for Georgian College community
  • Administration of computer leases and purchases for all college computers
