Georgian Advertising and Marketing studnets win gold at provincial competition

Georgian College's 2008 OCMC team The “Georgian Buzz,” a team of second-year Advertising and Marketing students, captured gold and bronze at the Ontario Colleges’ Marketing Competition (OCMC).

The annual event was hosted by Niagara College Nov. 13 and 14.

The team, which was up against stiff competition from third-year students from 14 other Ontario colleges, also finished at the top of their field in the Marketing case event and Direct Marketing competition.

The OCMC provides an opportunity for top students in advertising and marketing programs at Ontario colleges to demonstrate their marketing abilities. Each event is judged by industry professionals.

INDIVIDUAL WINNERS

  • Quiz Bowl event gold/bronze medals: Advertising students Shaun Tennant and Taylor McCarthy
  • Marketing event fourth place finish: Taylor McCarthy (Advertising) and Melena Bender (Marketing)
  • Direct Marketing event fifth place finish: Miles Drury (Advertising) and Brandon Gilmore (Marketing)
