The International Festival of Authors (IFOA), one of the world’s premier literary events, is coming to Barrie! Two events are planned for Barrie on Nov. 2.

International Festival of Authors (IFOA) Master Class with Michael Crummey

Join acclaimed novelist Michael Crummey (inset) in the Georgian College Theatre, Administrative Centre, Georgian College, Barrie Campus on Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. for a free Master Class.

This is a rare opportunity for writers to hear about the novelist’s craft and to learn some of a master’s ideas on the subject. The event is sponsored by the Laurentian Student Association at Georgian, the Georgian College General Education Program, and L3 (Barrie North Collegiate). Admission for this event is free and everyone is welcome!

International Festival of Authors in Barrie — Evening Reading

Four authors will read from their work including Michael Crummey and James Meek, at the Downtown Community Theatre on Nov. 2 at 8 p.m. This event is sponsored in Barrie by The City of Barrie, the Barrie Public Library, Georgian College, the University Partnership Centre at Georgian College, Laurentian University, the Georgian College General Education Program, the Laurentian Student Association at Georgian, and L3 (among others).

Tickets are $10 each and are available at the Georgian College Bookstore or the Barrie Public Library. A good turn-out this year will mean that the IFOA will make Barrie a permanent part of its future schedule.
