Georgian’s Peer Services department will recognize an outstanding student tutor when they present the first annual Tutor of the Year award on April 3.
Peer Services hires more than 120 student tutors each year at the Barrie Campus alone.
The award will be presented to a student tutor or a learning skills assistant who has demonstrated excellence in facilitating the learning of his or her fellow students.
Nominees must have at least 25 hours experience as a tutor and have completed foundational tutor training to be considered for the award. The recipient of the award will receive a $250 cash award and a feature in the College’s student newspaper, the Georgian Eye.
Students receiving one-on-one tutoring, or who regularly visit the Math Lab, Write On! or Knowledge Hub at any Georgian College campus are strongly encouraged to nominate an individual they feel is most deserving of the award.
FOR MORE INFORMATION
Those who wish to nominate a student tutor are asked to contact Peer Services at peerservices@georgiancollege.ca no later than Friday, March 13.
