The Muskoka Campus of Georgian College was recently accredited as a Quality Assessed Facility by the Technical Standards and Safety Authority (TSSA).

TSSA is an organization dedicated to increasing public safety in the home, workplace and recreational facilities. This is Georgian’s second campus to receive the honour – the Barrie Campus of Georgian College was accredited in 2007.

Jeff Choma, Manager, Electrical/Mechanical Systems at Georgian College, said the Muskoka Campus accreditation is great news for the campus and for Georgian.

“It shows the College’s level of commitment to safety and to providing an environment that promotes continuous improvement. The Muskoka Campus is now, more than ever, a great asset to both the College and the community it serves.”

TSSA was created in 1996 as a not-for-profit, self-funded administrative authority to administer and enforce public safety laws in Ontario in designated industry sectors. TSSA works with partners in industry, government, advisory councils, and the public in striving for zero serious injuries or fatalities in its regulated sectors. The TSSA program is an ongoing initiative which requires a yearly review of progress and safety compliance.

With the Muskoka Campus’ Quality Assessed Facility designation, Georgian College can not only proudly declare a number of risk-based solutions to benefit efficiency, performance and planned maintenance, but gain proactive procedures to protect people and assets.
