The first few weeks of September are jam-packed with activities designed to welcome new and returning students to the College community. Orientation activities, which include Week of Welcome (WOW) and The RUSH, are designed to help new students feel more at home. Below is a list of orientation activities happening at Georgian campuses across the region.
Barrie Campus
Orientation Day at the Barrie Campus will be a full day event this year (no classes) on Tuesday, Sept. 7. All classes college-wide will commence on Wednesday, Sept. 8.
Students will be placed into the gym in one of three sessions, starting at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Each student will receive a phone call and e-mail with their time based on their program. Orientation day will include a vendor village, volleyball tournament, mini pow wow, Horseshoe Valley Zorb ball, a free pizza lunch and more! Collingwood Campus
The orientation program for first-year students at the Collingwood Campus will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 1 and Thursday, Sept. 2. Students may choose one of three sessions (two being held on Sept. 1 and one on Sept. 2). Please contact Sabrina Westbrook at swestbrook@georgiancollege.ca for more information.
Orillia Campus
The orientation program for students at the Orillia Campus is an all day event on Tuesday, Sept. 7 beginning at 8 a.m. There are no classes scheduled for first-year or upper-year students. Classes are to begin on Sept. 8. The day starts with a pancake breakfast in the Den, followed by introductory program sessions. The day also includes lunch, a vendor village and entertainment for the afternoon. A SAC information session will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. and a pre-boat cruise party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Den. The boat cruise will run from 8 to 10 p.m.

Owen Sound Campus
The orientation program for first-year students at the Owen Sound Campus runs from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7. There are no classes scheduled for first-year or upper-year students. Classes are to begin on Sept. 8. Orientation Day will start with breakfast, followed by an assembly with the mayor of Owen Sound providing a welcome. A BBQ lunch will follow, with a number of events planned for the afternoon, including dunk tanks and bull rides. Tours of the marine simulator will also take place throughout the day.

Midland Campus
The orientation program at the Midland Campus for all students starts at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 7 with a general assembly. From there you will break off into your program specific area for program orientation and class commencement. There will be a BBQ lunch provided for all students. Muskoka Campus
The orientation program at the Muskoka Campus will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students are welcome to drop in during this time to meet staff and faculty, pick up their timetable, have their picture taken for their student ID card and more!
