Laurentian University professor Bruce Meyer shortlisted in TVO contest

Dr. Bruce Meyer, a Laurentian University professor at the Barrie Campus, has been shortlisted in TVOntario’s 2010 Big Ideas Best Lecturer Competition, and he’s counting on your vote.
Meyer’s lecture will be broadcast on TVO on March 27 at 5 p.m.

Georgian grad Jon Montgomery wins Olympic gold in men’s skeleton!

Olympic athlete and Georgian graduate Jon Montgomery is golden! He has won the gold medal in the men’s skeleton competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics.
A native of Manitoba, Jon graduated from Business Administration – Automotive Marketing at the Barrie Campus in 2000. He has been a skeleton competitor since 2003.

Local high school students hosting fundraiser for Haiti April 16

[ April 16, 2010; 12:00 am; ] A group of students from Eastview Secondary School is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti.

The event, at St. Mary’s Church in Barrie on Friday, April 16, will feature music, plays and performance art by local youths.
