Georgian students plant trees in cellphone swap with local company

Pat Hebert (l) trades an evergreen seedling for a used cell phone from Environmental Technology student Jessica Grodzinski.

Hebert’s company, CellCycle, has set up depots at Georgian’s Barrie and Orillia campuses to gather used cell phones from students and staff members. They are recycled and in return, CellCycle has agreed to donate a tree for every phone turned in.

Environmental students planted the first batch of trees outside “D” building at the Barrie Campus last week.
