Environmental filmmaker returns to Georgian Feb. 24 to screen Chemerical
Georgian College’s student environmental action group GEAR (Georgian Students for Environmental Awareness and Research) is living up to its name by “Getting Environmental Attitudes Rolling” and bringing Toronto filmmaker Andrew Nisker back to Georgian College, Barrie Campus, for the screening of his newest movie “Chemerical” on Wednesday, Feb. 24.
The film provides insight on the “toxic debate” that is occurring within every household using everyday cleaners and chemical-based hygiene products.
In the film, Nisker helps a family rid the harmful products that contain corrosive chemicals banned in warfare but are allowed for consumer use. Nisker brought his earlier film “Garbage: The Revolution Starts At Home” to Georgian College in 2009.
Members of the public are invited to join Nisker by attending the film screening at 6 p.m. in Georgian’s Rowntree Theatre (H Building). Discussion will follow the movie.
The cost is $5 with all proceeds supporting GEAR activities. Fair Trade refreshments will be provided, donated by Barrie’s Fair Trade Working Group.
