Napoleon donates $250,000 to Georgian’s new Centre for Sustainable Technologies
Barrie-based Napoleon Fireplaces and Grills has donated $250,000 in support of Georgian’s new Centre for Sustainable Technologies, where future generations of engineering technicians and technologists will begin their careers.
The donation will support the Innovative Technology Laboratory and training and education, including applied research in sustainable heating systems such as renewable biomass energy.
“Our business has been built on cutting-edge technologies which ensure our products are second to none and that is why we chose to support the Innovative Technology Laboratory and sustainable energy education. We are proud to contribute to Georgian as it has been an excellent source for qualified workers who have helped our company succeed, and we believe this gift will ensure that future recruits from Georgian will be educated in the best possible environment,” said Wolfgang Schroeter, owner of Napoleon Fireplaces and Grills.
“We know this donation will benefit students, our company, and also others in the local business community who will have access to a qualified workforce.”
The 18,000-sq.-ft. facility houses a new Civil Engineering Technology program and a revised Electrical Engineering Technology program catering to the utilities industry.
This is the latest donation to Georgian’s $25-million Power of Education campaign for growth and development. To date, more than $19 million has been contributed by generous donors benefitting the College’s Centre for Sustainable Technologies, the future Centre for Health and Wellness, and the Midland, Muskoka and Owen Sound campuses. The awards and scholarship program, a vital financial lifeline for students, will also benefit.
