What is Operation Hero?

Operation Hero will provide members of Canadian military families with the opportunity to receive a scholarship to assist in the funding of their education at Georgian College. This scholarship will be endowed in perpetuity to support future generations. At CFB Borden, there are 1,800 soldiers, sailors, air men and women rotating through the base annually for training. In order to honor and thank those who serve, who have served and those who have lost their lives, Operation Hero has been established. This initiative is a collaborate effort which was developed by a dedicated group of local business and community leaders, and supported by Georgian College and Base Borden.
Who is eligible?
Military family members of the Canadian Forces entering any full or part-time post secondary program at Georgian College are eligible for this scholarship. Preference will be given to family members of those currently posted at CFB Borden.
Save the date
Funds will be raised during the months of April and May. The inauguration of Operation Hero will take place on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at Canadian Forces Day at CFB Borden. Georgian College will be awarding the first Operation Hero Scholarship at this event.
