Submitted by on Friday, 11 June 2010No Comment

Georgian recently received funding to offer the Access to Apprenticeship program through the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

The College started running the program early in June at the Barrie Campus with the support of the Simcoe County District School Board and CONTACT-South Simcoe Community Information Centre, a non-profit charity organization that provides community-focused services to residents of South Simcoe. The program is part of the Ministry’s Workplace and Community Literacy program.

Access to Apprenticeship, a tuition-free program, will run in 12 three-week sessions. It’s designed to assist individuals to prepare for apprenticeships by providing assessments, skills upgrading and support with the transition to work for further training and education.
