Georgian College service helps Canadian newcomers
Many Canadian immigrants who would like to apply their skills within their new country face a variety of challenges.
An advisory service at Georgian can help skilled immigrants obtain the proper credentials and put them in touch with the people and agencies they need to develop great careers in Canada.
Colleges Integrating Immigrants to Employment (CIITE) assists clients with:
- Academic options and credential assessment;
- Employment opportunities;
- Language and professional skill enhancement; and,
- Successful integration into the Canadian workplace.
This is the third year of the project, which has assisted more than 200 individuals in the Simcoe County area to date. Those who have formal training outside Canada are eligible for this free service.
CIITE AT GEORGIAN
Available services include:
- Referrals to Job Connect;
- Advising and counselling services College department contacts;
- Professional organizations;
- Credential assessment;
- Employment and community supports for settlement; and,
- Personal issues and language training.
Services are available Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
