OUT OF THE COLD A group of third-year Child and Youth Worker (CYW) students organized Georgian’s Fifth Annual Night in the Cold event, which took place overnight in a parking lot in downtown Orillia Oct. 22 and 23.

More than 50 other College students from Community Studies and Justice and Public Safety Institute programs joined them. Members of the Students’ Administrative Council, Orillia, also took part and helped out by registering the participants.

“This was a great display of a College and community partnership,” says CYW faculty Karen Bell. “Everyone really came together to make the event a success.”

This year’s event raised about $3,500 as well as donations of food, coats, mittens, hats and boots for those in need. The funds will go toward Christian Men’s Lighthouse soup kitchen and the Couchiching Jubilee House for young mothers.
