Submitted by on Wednesday, 18 November 2009No Comment

Georgian College was in the spotlight at an EDUCAUSE information technology (IT) symposium that took place in Denver, Colorado Nov. 3 to 6.

Grant Strasser, Information Technology (pictured), spoke at last year’s conference and was asked to give two presentations at this year’s event.

The first presentation, the Future of IT in Higher Education, featured a panel of experts from a number of American colleges. It also included a briefing on major IT trends and discussion on cost management, IT software solutions, integration of enterprise portal and Web content management, and more.

The second presentation, Using Co-op Models to Provide Compelling New Services Efficiently and Cost-Effectively, covered topics such as sharing resources and costs between institutions, strategies on how to provide new, cutting-edge services that meet budget and time constraints, and more.

Grant will speak at an IT meeting in Toronto next February and at a Canada-wide WebEx presentation on e-commerce strategies next spring. He’ll also make a presentation at the Canadian Portlet Development Conference, which is being held at the Kempenfelt Conference Centre Dec. 2 to 4.

Georgian staff members will be in attendance, along with representatives from Confederation College, Conestoga College, Loyalist College and the Royal Military College.
