About 45 members of the Barrie Huronia Soundwaves chorus surprised shoppers at the Kozlov Mall in Barrie just before Christmas with a “flash mob” version of You Raise Me Up in four part barbershop style harmony. Two members of the chorus, Nina Koniuch and Cathy Neuss, work for Georgian College. In the YouTube video, Nina’s children Marlee and Jodie are in the back and the clip ends with a camera shot on them. Nina said it was a “snow day” in Barrie, but shoppers who braved the weather enjoyed the impromptu performance. The Barrie Huronia Soundwaves, a chapter of Sweet Adelines International, has had more than 9,000 hits to the four-minute YouTube video and would like to entertain as many people as possible.
