Barrie Campus students brave Night in the Cold
A group of Barrie Campus students is braving the elements on the evening of Nov. 11 to raise funds for and awareness of Barrie’s Out of the Cold program. This is second year that the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) group has carried out “A Night in the Cold.”
Student volunteers move into cardboard boxes and tents at about 7 p.m., to experience life on the street. They will camp out on the front lawn of the Barrie Campus.
“The event is all about awareness, with the hope of raising some funds but it is important that we are visible; we will have signs, tents, probably cardboard boxes, who knows. It should be a great time for students to get involved,” said WUSC committee co-chair Nicole Bayley.
Additional volunteers are more than welcome to take part and help out. To volunteer or find out more, contact Bayley at nm_bayley@laurentian.ca
