orientation-logoThe first few weeks of September are jam-packed with activities, contests, and sessions designed to welcome new and returning students to the College community. Orientation activities, which include the Weeks of Welcome (WOW) and Summer Orientation Sessions (SOS), are designed to help new students feel more at home.

It also gives upper year students the chance to develop their ethical, moral and civic aptitude by participating in orientation as volunteers or leaders.

Below is a list of orientation activities happening at Georgian campuses across the region.

BARRIE CAMPUS

A mandatory orientation session for first-year students at the Barrie Campus begins at 8:15 a.m. on Tues., Sept. 8. Note that there are no classes scheduled prior to 6 p.m. on Sept. 8. First-year students are expected to attend classes that begin at 6 p.m. or later. E-mail orientation@georgiancollege.ca for more information.

Note that there are no morning classes for students in the upper years on Tues., Sept. 8. Classes commencing at
1 p.m. or later on Sept. 8 will run as scheduled for upper year students.

Upper year students interested in taking part in the orientation program are asked to join the Students Welcoming and Activities Team (SWAT). Download a copy of the SWAT application form (PDF). Completed forms may be submitted to the Students’ Administrative Council (SAC) office at the Barrie Campus in Room A162.

Classes for students in the Professional Golf Management (non-degree) program start on Mon., Sept. 21.

COLLINGWOOD CAMPUS

A mandatory information session for first-year students at the Collingwood Campus begins at 1 p.m. on Thurs.,
Sept. 3 at 44 Hurontario Street in Collingwood.

ORILLIA CAMPUS

The orientation program for students at the Orillia Campus begins at 8 a.m. on Tues., Sept. 8. There are no classes scheduled for first-year or upper year students before 6 p.m. on Sept. 8. Classes commencing at 6 p.m. or later will run as scheduled.

Upper year students interested in taking part in the orientation program may contact Mike Zecchino at mzecchino@georgiancollege.ca.

OWEN SOUND CAMPUS

The orientation program for first-year students at the Owen Sound Campus begins at 8 a.m. on Tues., Sept. 8. There are no morning classes scheduled for first-year or upper year students on Sept. 8. Classes commencing at
1 p.m. or later will run as scheduled.

Upper year students interested in taking part in the orientation program may contact Greg Hoddinott at ghoddinott@georgiancollege.ca.

MIDLAND CAMPUS

The orientation program at the Midland Campus for all students starts at 8 a.m. on Tues., Sept. 8. There will also be a boat cruise and all students are invited to attend. Attendance must be confirmed by Aug. 21.

MUSKOKA CAMPUS

The orientation program at the Muskoka Campus will be held Tues., Sept. 1 and Wed., Sept. 2 starting at 10 a.m. each day. Classes begin on Tues., Sept. 8.
