NATIONAL TO PERSONAL - Security and Protection

Disasters such as 9/11 and SARS have transformed the nature and scope of public and private security in Canada. As well, public concern about gun violence, home invasions, and other issues of personal safety have made personal protection a growth industry. As the cost of public policing continues to increase, traditional roles performed by general policing services are being redefined. This trend provides exciting opportunities for private security services.

In order to properly address current social issues such as youth crime and violent crime, corrections professionals require higher levels of training, skill and demonstrated competence. Georgian College's new Law and Security program is designed to meet these criteria.
