Learning Objects

The advent of computer aided learning means new ideas that support learners are emerging. Learning objects are a hot topic now. What are Learning Objects?

Learning Objects are:

  • Reusable packaged “chunks” of instruction that often contain a single objective, text, possibly graphics, or other digital learning materials, and an assessment, quiz or test.
  • Shareable. Created by teachers for teachers.
  • Available to teachers online (downloadable).
  • Stored in searchable online libraries.

BROCK UNIVERSITY LEARNING OBJECTS

Instructors at Brock are exploring new ways to teach concepts that have proven difficult in conventional classroom environments. Through a partnership between CTLET and ITS, Brock has been working with interested faculty to produce learning objects to enhance teaching with internet based technology. Learning objects are computer based teaching tools that help students understand a specific concept and are intended to be both modular and self contained.
