The Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) named Georgian student Natalie Buck as Athlete of the Week and the men’s basketball team as Team of the Week.
Third-year volleyball player Natalie Buck recorded a game-high 15 offensive points in a 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) upset win over Trent University. Buck contributed 11 kills, two service aces and two stuff blocks. Georgian lost to Trent in four sets earlier in the season. With the victory, Georgian (11-6) clinched a post-season berth in OCAA East region and has an opportunity to earn a bye into the OCAA championship. Georgian has won three of its last four matches.
The Georgian Grizzlies men’s basketball team is on their longest win streak of the season having won four straight as they moved closer to clinching a post-season berth in the OCAA East region. Georgian (10-6) currently sits third in the standings after road victories at Durham (74-73) on Feb. 3 and Fleming-Peterborough (87-77) on Feb. 4. Second-year forward Shane Rowe scored a combined 44 points and 34 rebounds in both games. Rowe is averaging 22.7 points in 10 games.
