More than 100 volunteers, mostly Georgian students, came together to provide logistical support for the second annual Base Borden Run held on Sunday, Oct. 23, at Canadian Forces Base Borden. Georgian staff, students and alumni laced up for the cause too. Tony Podziemski, staff member at the Barrie Campus, placed first in the over 40 age group and 11th overall.

Students captured the day with their winning spirit and enthusiasm. Their volunteer efforts were vital to the success of the event. They pitched in days prior to the event to prepare and hand out race kits, and on the day of the race bundled up to help in a variety of capacities.

“I received amazing feedback about the enthusiasm of the volunteers. A race isn’t a race without volunteers and Georgian students were truly engaged and really helped to elevate the excitement of the event,” said Joan van Hilten, a member of the organizing committee.

“In addition, the Georgian Alumni Association sponsored the Volunteer Race Crew shirts which we appreciated.”
