Faculty Testimonials

As a faculty member in the Engineering department, I have benefited from CARI’s assistance in arranging meetings and events, proposal writing, grant applications, hiring of student researchers, legal issues and general project management. I have found the CARI staff to be very approachable and helpful in all activities related to my research. I look forward to continued support from CARI and encourage others to seek the great advice and assistance that the staff at the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation can provide.

– Ron Sky, Professor, Engineering Technology, Barrie Campus

CARI has allowed me to provide my skills and experiences to help the student researchers expand their skill sets, while also guiding them through dealing with all aspects of a project from kick-off meetings to project completions and product launches. My involvement in guiding the next generation of individuals in my profession to get the running-start they need to stay in front of competition, while also allowing me to impart as much of my experience as possible has provided me with great satisfaction.

– Jeff Jones, Professor, Computer Studies, Barrie Campus

Student Testimonials

My experiences with the Centre for Applied Research and Innovation have been nothing short of amazing. I was privileged to be able to complete all three of my co-ops with CARI, and I feel as though I have grown so much as an individual as well as a professional during my time with the department. The range of work that was involved and the people I worked with made it so that every day was a new and exciting experience. I would recommend that any student who is given the opportunity to be a part of CARI, take it, you won’t regret it.

– Cody deVries, student researcher

Working at the Centre for Applied Research Innovation has been one of the best parts of my college career. I have been able to increase my skill set by working directly with local industry and the faculty lead. As a result, it has helped me to build confidence in my own work.

– Robert Adlam, student researcher
